What Is the Semiquincentennial?

On July 4, 2026, America marked 250 years of independence — a semiquincentennial. Congress established the America250 Commission to lead the national commemoration, and schools are still using the 2026–27 year to teach the founding documents.

The Declaration of Independence Song is a classroom companion for that school year — verbatim text set to music, not a pop anthem about independence. Students can memorize and recite the opening of the Declaration itself.
